Professor Nmehielle is currently Associate Professor
of Law; Bram Fischer Chair in Human Rights Law,
University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg South
Africa. Professor Nmehielle was formerly a Lecturer
in the Faculty of Law of River State University
of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt, Nigeria,
was an International Rule of Law Fellow at the International
Rule of Law Center of the George Washington University
Law School and worked variously in the United States
as Research Associate, International Law Associate
and Legal Editor. He served as an expert in a number
of cases in the United States on aspects of Nigerian
law and international law relating to Africa in
general. He specializes in international and comparative
law; particularly; international human rights law,
international organizations, dispute resolution,
and international environmental law. He has written
in the areas of human rights, the rule of law, and
dispute resolution. His recent book, The African
Human Rights System: Its Laws, Practice and Institutions,
was published by Kluwer Law International in December
2001.
